Mission:

The low-threshold club PVC provides background, support and expert help to adolescents from the town of Blansko and its surroundings in difficult life situations.

May, June: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday

Target Group:

Primary target group
Teenagers from 13 to 20 years hanging out in the town of Blansko and neighbouring areas, who go through or may in the future - with regard to their environment - go through:

  • complicated life events (e.g. psychic troubles related to development in adolescence, detachment from the family, engagement in peer groups, family dissolution, new partners of their parents, problems in the school, choice of career and development of work habits)
  • conflicting social situations (e.g. criminal activities, conflicts with parents, authorities)
  • negative experience and risk behaviour (e.g. premature or risky sexual experience and behaviour, bullying, drug abuse, accidents during weekend boozing)

Secondary target group
Young people from 20 to 26 years, from the town of Blansko and its surroundings, who go through:

  • complicated life events (e.g. psychic troubles related to development in adolescence, detachment from the family, engagement in peer groups, family dissolution, new partners of their parents, problems in the school, choice of career and acquisition of work habits)
  • conflicting social situations (e.g. criminal activities, conflicts with parents, authorities)
  • negative experience and risk behaviour (e.g. premature or risky sexual experience and behaviour, bullying, drug abuse, accidents during weekend boozing)

The target group does not include (apart from age limits):

  • people with mental and health disorders of such a scope that prevents their safe stay on the facility premises

Service Goals:

Long-term goals:

  • to incorporate adolescents socially in a peer group and the society
  • to reduce negative impacts of risky behaviour of adolescents on their health and further development
  • to create background for individuals and adolescent groups and conditions for their self-help activities
  • to help adolescents handle crisis and difficult situations in their everyday lives
  • to develop new procedures of work with adolescents, to map their needs and to make them known to the public

Short-term goals (for 2006-7):

  • to increase awareness, to change attitudes and behaviour of adolescents in the following areas:
  • sexual life, pervitine (finish application of programmes and evaluate)
  • violence, theft (start application of programmes)
  • to improve the ability of incorporation of current outsiders into a peer group (at the same time, to map this topic, to create methodology)
  • to support formulation of the adolescents- own opinions on themselves, their close and wider environment

Principles of Service Provision:

  • low-threshold principle (real availability, pragmatic setting up of goals, thoughtful setting up of goals)
  • respecting the clients' rights
  • maintaining professional ethics of person-to-person work

Services

Offering room and free-time activities:
The club includes:
club room, play room, art workshop, pottery, music workshop - equipped studio for beginning bands, computer room with 4 computers and free internet access, photoshop, table-tennis room, drop-in room, rest room and free-time equipment lending room. The centre has a regular monthly programme for children and young people, with other activities organized outside - at the places where the target group hangs out. Children and young people come to the club freely to spend their free time. We perceive the free-time activities as a way of contact and work with the target group.

Social services:
The basic services realized in the centre are person-to-person work, situational intervention, work with educational situations, providing information; assistance in assertion of rights and interests; counselling; accompanying and arrangement for subsequent care as per need. Our services include pilot projects of specific social prevention, focused on teenagers from 13 - 17 years. The projects focus on the following: drug abuse, sex and partnership, life in a peer group. For girls, we have a programme of specific social prevention, concerning sexual debut, partnership and gynaecologic problems.

Outreach Social Work

This includes streetwork of a pair of social assistants (in the streets, parks, housing estates) in the scope of 5 to 30 hours a week - systemically monitoring the locality, searching for and contacting the target group, including search for clients from the viewpoint of the law on social-legal protection of children.
The projects include a specific outreach programme focused on girls. Furthermore, once a week, there are contact hours of the social assistants in the low-threshold club.
