Program of Work with Clients at Conflict with the Law, Olomouc

The programme of work with clients in conflict with the law has been running since 2002 and is a part of the regional department of Association of Podané ruce, o.s. - Walhalla. The target group of the service are drug users who got into conflict with the law due to their lifestyle connected to drug use, and their close persons. The services are provided free of charge.

Target Group:

The target group of the programme are, generally speaking, drug users who found themselves in conflict with the law (so-called primary and secondary drug criminality). This means that there is currently criminal proceedings held against them, they are in custody or in prison or have been discharged from prison.
The programme is also intended for their close persons (partners, parents or relatives).
The project further focuses on prison staff, to deepen their knowledge of the drug problem, to create conditions for efficient co-operation and fulfilment of the project goals in the form of continuing education.

Types of Services Provided:

  • Information service
  • Counselling (social, health, criminal, drug problem)
  • Crisis intervention
  • Psychological support, abstinence support
  • Assistance dealing with the authorities, police, courts, PMS
  • Assistance service and accompanying
  • Assistance in dealing with debts
  • Reference, referral to a treatment centre or other institutions
  • Correspondence, possibility of sending a package for those in need (hygienic stuff and writing utensils, stamps)
  • Assistance with preparations for discharge from prison
  • Training of communication and social skills
  • Group activities

Goals of the Services:

The main goal of the programme is to provide professional services, with the view of gradual integration which should lead to an overall improvement of life quality of the target group.

The services of the programme Work with Clients in Conflict with the Law focus on:

  • Support of client motivation to improve their situation
  • Prevention of imprisonment
  • Observance of the conditions stipulated by the court
  • Assistance provided to clients during their imprisonment
  • Assistance with creating a realistic plan for the way of life after leaving prison
  • Integration of clients into the majority society
  • Prevention of relapse and social fall of clients
